The Photographer in High School

Every photo has a story, a meaning behind what is being captured. As a photographer I invariably try to capture a narrative, but photos I’m requested to take mean nothing. Well they mean something, but that something is substandard. How can I make others like me?; how can I make others envy me?; how can I not be myself?. With the brutal influence of social media, everyone is playing a character. Wanting a photograph just to post on ones Instagram, Snapchat exc. I have never once been asked to take a photograph for something other than social media, which is absolutely atrocious. People always asking those simple three questions before a post. Waiting till the perfect time to post. Picking the perfect filter to post. Panicking on how many likes they’ll get. Comparing everything one is to someone else. Stop trying to make others jealous, stop trying to make your accounts better than everyone else’s. Stop trying to impress others and impress yourself. Take a photo that makes you happy, Not fake. Just you, because that’s a story.
